In fact, he was so desperate that he stole his brother's car to end his misery. In his fight, he had to endure years of alcohol abuse and drug addiction. He lost everything that he had and was more determined than ever to get away from his problems. In the process he came across Dr. Larry Abrahams, a psychiatrist who used neuroscience in order to help patients deal with their problems.Schroeder's problems began when he lost his job as a warehouse worker after a co-worker wrote negative reviews about him. He found himself living in a house where he did not know anyone. His initial meeting with Dr. Abrahams was rocky but eventually, he began to feel at home in his new environ ment.Schroeder made friends with the staff at the facility and gradually, he became an integral part of the team. After a year and a half, his stay with Dr. Abrahams was coming to an end.Schroeder had tried to end his life several times before but each time he was arrested. He had done it once with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and on another occasion when he stabbed himself in the stomach with a screwdriver.When the authorities received a call from an unidentified person at a hospital, they found Schroeder dead on the floor of the room, wearing a hospital gown and hospital slippers. The doctors determined that he had been dead for up to a month.John Thompson's past is another subject of Schroeder's story. After losing his job at a car wash, John Thompson moved into the home of a friend who later became his wife.John Thompson had a troubled past and became a very unstable person. Over time, he had to face the reality that he was addicted to drugs and alcohol. Eventually , he turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with the psychological issues that he was struggling with.
